Good Food Awards Winners Announced: Patric Chocolate Wins Again

gI 119847 Good Food Awards Winner Seal 2012 Good Food Awards Winners Announced: Patric Chocolate Wins Again
San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) January 26, 2012

The second annual Good Food Awards recognized 8 tasty, authentic and responsible craft chocolate makers in an awards ceremony on January 13, 2012 at the iconic San Francisco Ferry Building. The craftspeople, their food communities, judges and media attended the standing room only, 400-person gathering. The evening was a celebration of regional diversity and momentum, energy and collaboration surrounding a maturing artisan food movement. American food producers were honored for enhancing their own local food communities, and creating food and drink that epitomize American craftsmanship.

Back in the 80s, I never could have dreamed how huge the change was going to be, said keynote speaker Ruth Reichl, Editorial Consultant for Gilt Taste. We now live in a country that has the best produce in the world; we are reclaiming our edible heritage. This is our chance to thank the tireless efforts of artisan producers for giving us the America we once dreamed we could have.

The following day, many thousands more took part in the celebration of Americas food artisans by attending the Good Food Awards Marketplace and new Beer & Spirits Garden. There, craft-chocolate maker, Alan “Patric” McClure of Patric Chocolate met the other Good Food Award winners and took the time to share his love of the craft.

The energy at the ceremony and marketplace this year clearly reached a fevered pitch, with some people treating us almost like food celebrities. It is exciting and mind blowing that we can have such a positive impact on so many people through the commitment of crafting delicious and responsibly-made chocolate, commented Alan “Patric” McClure maker of the award winning chocolate bar, Signature 70% Blend. People really want to understand what makes great chocolate more than they ever have before. It is incredibly heartening.

ABOUT PATRIC CHOCOLATE

Patric Chocolate, founded in early 2006 by Alan Patric McClure, was one of the first craft chocolate makers in the US to make chocolate from scratchfrom bean-to-bar.

Patric is currently one of the most respected chocolate makers in the US, having received praise from the likes of Gourmet Magazine, the New Yorker Online, the LA Times, Forbes, and Food & Wine Magazine.

720x90 Good Food Awards Winners Announced: Patric Chocolate Wins Again

Since 2006, Patric has expanded its product line to include some of the best single-origin dark chocolates in the world. This has garnered Patric Chocolate a 2011 Good Food Award, recognition as a Best New American Chocolate by Food & Wine Magazine and now a 2012 Good Food Award win for Patric Chocolate’s Signature 70% Blend. McClure plans to expand the product line yet again in 2012, with the creation of several additional premium chocolate bars never before seen in the chocolate market.

ABOUT GOOD FOOD AWARDS

Now, in its second year, awards were given to winners in eight categories: beer, charcuterie, cheese, chocolate, coffee, pickles, preserves and spirits. The Good Food Awards Seal, found on winning products, assures consumers they have found something exceptionally delicious that also supports sustainability and social good. It also connects producers to a network of national buyers who seek out foods that meet the holistic Good Food Awards criteria.

The second annual Good Food Awards offers a platform for producers to take their craft to the next level, providing real business benefits and a network of like-minded peers in the form of the Good Food Guild. For many, the recognition of their craft and philosophy is long overdue. The movement is growing as retailers and the industry recognize and support the Good Food Award winners.

SPONSORS

The Good Food Awards would not have been possible without the generous support of its many partners: Whole Foods, Gilt Taste, Williams Sonoma, Bi-Rite Market, Foodzie, DPEM, the San Francisco Ferry Building and CUESA.
